Woy Woy South Public School & Kariong Public School: Roofing works

Snapshot:

  • Project – Woy Woy South PS & Kariong PS Roofing Works

  • Timeline – April to August 2023

  • Budget – $619k

Woy Woy South and Kariong Public Schools were experiencing recurrent leaks due to old roofing which had reached end of life. UpBuild were engaged to replace the existing roofing to prevent any further leaking with the installation of new metal sheet roofing as per the AS/NCC/EFSG guidelines. UpBuild redesigned Kariong’s roofs to make it more aesthetically pleasing with better functionality, and reducing ongoing maintenance liability. Woy Woy South Public School contained hazardous materials which meant the roofing works also involved the remediation and removal of lead and asbestos. These weren’t easy projects. The team were faced with various challenges including poor access, various roof elevations and pitches, curved roofing, hazardous material, limited hours and complex logistics, but despite these obstacles, the team proved themselves more than competent, demonstrating their depth of knowledge, expertise of skills and precision in execution. The complex roofing works delivered by UpBuild are of superior quality and have received only positive feedback to date. There have been zero callouts through the SINSW Facilities Maintenance Contracts to attend roof leaks/repairs since the works completed. UpBuild’s high-quality work has breathed new life into these important buildings and provided a new sense of security, comfort and shelter that will last for generations to come.
